5 crypto-web3 communities analysis

Almost any information resource about Web3 and crypto is known for a large number of bots and spam. In this article we will try to figure out how to pick an X (Twitter) community that fits your goals.

For the analysis we take five communities and go through each of them one by one:

CommunityMembersPostsViews / postLikes / postSpamGini
Web343,8595141124.018.5%0.85
Bitcoin87,4081,2871,22317.621.0%0.95
Bitcoin, Crypto & Stablecoin🌎23,0361431183.521.8%0.89
Solana Meme Coin38,4286887123.719.9%0.97
Web3 Startup Analytics8,921411,38323.331.7%0.97

Posts, views and likes are counted over the 30 days before each community's latest snapshot. Keep in mind that per-post numbers are averages, and with a Gini index this high averages hide a lot: a typical post gets far less than the mean.

Web3

The main distinguishing feature of this community is the large number of authors from Africa: about a quarter of them, with Nigeria (19 authors) almost tied with Viet Nam (20) for the top spot.

Web3: authors by continent.

Reach is low: 514 posts collected about 58,000 views in total, which is 112 views and 4 likes per post on average - and the median post gets even less.

A lot of the posts are art.

Bitcoin

My favourite community on this list. It has the best numbers among the large ones: 1,223 views and 17.6 likes per post on average, across almost 1,300 posts.

North America holds a strong position among authors, and the United States is by far the biggest single country with 53 of 246 authors.

Analytical posts show up often, and it looks like the admins keep an eye on spam. Still, attention is spread very unevenly between authors: the Gini index is 0.95.

Bitcoin, Crypto & Stablecoin🌎

An example of a completely dead community. Over 30 days its 23,000 members produced just 143 posts from 33 authors, with 118 views and 3.5 likes per post. More than one in five posts is outright spam, and many of the rest are reposts of other posts. There is little point in digging into the numbers here - this community is not worth your attention.

Solana Meme Coin

Almost every post here is meme coin promotion. The numbers:

MetricValue
Views per post712
Likes per post3.7
Replies per post1.9
Gini index0.97

Decent views but almost no likes, and nearly all the attention goes to a handful of authors. Authors come mostly from North America, with the US alone at 55 of 228.

There is not much to discuss in this community. If your goal is to shill meme coins, it might suit you.

Web3 Startup Analytics

A small growing community with a narrow niche: under 9,000 members, 41 posts from 14 authors. Per-post numbers are the best on this list - 1,383 views and 23 likes - but the main problem is that one author takes almost all the attention. That shows up as a huge adjusted Gini index of 0.97.

The spam rate looks like the highest of the five at 32%, but with only 41 posts that is 13 posts, so a single spammer moves it a lot. With a clear niche, this community can still fit specific goals.

Check any other community on x-community.top before you start posting there. Save your time - it's valuable.
